Welcome to Hobart MTB Tours
If you’ve never been to Tasmania, trust me, it’s beautiful.
Us locals call it Tassie, and the best of Tassie is Hobart and Mount Wellington. We love riding on The Mountain and we want to share it with you.
Hobart has sone of the best bike trails in Australia but it’s split between several land owners and is only known to the locals that ride it. With 1300m of vertical and more trails than a multi-storey shopping centre it should be the number one destination for all mountain bikers, but it’s not, and the spoilt locals aren’t blabbing.
If you want scenic and relaxed or fast and exciting or steep and scary, Hobart has everything.
And it’s so accessible.
While Hobart may be a capital city, if you know which direction to go, within 5 minutes you can be out of the city and riding single track mountain biking gold. Try that in Sydney or Melbourne and you’re still in the car park.
All you need is someone to show you.
So, let’s meet the team…
This is Jono and no one is more enthusiastic about Mountain Bike riding than Jono. Despite a distinct lack of skill, fitness, pedigree or talent he’s out on the trails around Hobart and Mt Wellington everyday. Always smiling, his positive attitude makes even the worst day fun. And his inexhaustible repertoire of terrible jokes will have you groaning in the saddle. (I was road riding up a hill with a buddy when he said “Lets make this interesting” . So we got off our road bikes and went MTB riding”)
“I’m doing what I love, riding my bike and meeting great people. Everyday riding on The Mountain is amazing and to get to work here, ride here and share it with people is a gift. Come ride it with me!”
He should be at school but we can’t keep him away. Josh’s enthusiasm for mountain biking is infectious and he’s never happier than when he’s on the Mountain.
He’ll soon have you laughing.
Tony has Hobart in his blood. With a wealth of local experience, Tony’s never short of a story, and he’s a great bloke to ride with on the good days and the bad.
He’s a Hobart Mountain Bike Tours character.
…and a quick intro to our bikes

The Workhorse: Rocky Mountain Soul
It’s a trail style hardtail with 120mm suspension, relaxed trail geometry and a big set of 760mm texas longhorn handle bars….
Meet our bus, The Sir David
David Walsh might not be a name synonymous with mountain bike riding but Hobart measures time as Before MONA (BM) and After MONA (AM).
MONA – the Museum of Old and New Art – has made Hobart a destination and changed it from Nobart, SlowBart and DontGoBart to GrowBart, YoBart and LetsGoBart.
In tribute we call our bus The Sir David in honour of MONA founder David Walsh.
Like the man himself, it might look a bit rough and rugged but its got bags of character. It’s also got wheels and seats and stuff – don’t worry, it’ll get you to the top.
